PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. (AP) - Authorities say a 2-year-old girl is dead after being found floating in the pool at her family’s central Florida home.
Treasure Coast Newspapers (https://goo.gl/Vqs4di ) reports that the girl’s mother found her Wednesday afternoon.
Port St. Lucie police say the mother had gone to a nearby convenience store while the girl’s father stayed home with the child. The father thought the girl was sleeping in her room. When the mother returned home, she couldn’t find the girl. The mother checked outside and spotted the girl in the pool.
The girl’s mother and responding police officers performed CPR, but it wasn’t known how long she had been in the water. The girl was taken to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
