PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Philadelphia police say an armed man was shot in the face after he confronted another man as he answered the door of an apartment.

Police tell WPVI-TV (https://6abc.cm/2nv4C4B ) that the 26-year-old suspect was pointing his gun in the face of the 29-year-old man as that man opened the door to his apartment in the city’s Tacony section about 12:30 a.m. Friday.

As those men struggled, another man - a friend of the apartment resident - went to another apartment, got a gun and shot the suspect.

Police say the armed man was found with a gunshot wound to the chest and was taken to Aria-Torresdale Hospital in critical condition.

Police haven’t said they the armed man came to the apartment in the first place.
