JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - Police are investigating a fatal shooting in south Jackson.

Jackson Police Commaner Tyree Jones says 27-year-old Kendale Tarvin was shot dead Thursday morning in a Jackson neighborhood. Jones says it appears Tarvin had been driving when several shots were fired at the vehicle and he got out and ran.

Police don’t know why the shooter or shooters began firing. Jones says two suspects are being sought, one of which was wearing a black shirt and red shorts.

Hinds County Coroner Sharon Grisham Stewart says she is holding off on releasing details of the shooting until police have spoken to the family.

The investigation is ongoing.
