NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - Police in Arkansas have released the names of a man who was fatally shot by an officer and the name of the officer who fired the shot.

North Little Rock Police Sgt. Brian Dedrick said in a news release Friday that 42-year-old Eddie Davis of Jacksonville died after being shot by Officer Bruce Moyster.

Dedrick said the shooting occurred Thursday at the end of a pursuit that began in North Little Rock by officers investigating a robbery in Jacksonville and ended in Grant County when Davis approached officers while holding a knife after stabbing a police dog.

Dedrick said Moyster is on paid leave pending an Arkansas State Police investigation into the shooting and that the police dog is expected to recover from the stab wounds.
