DAYTON, Ohio (AP) - Authorities say a 14-year-old boy injured in a shooting in southwest Ohio has died.

The Montgomery County Coroner’s Office has identified the teen shot Tuesday night as James Banks, of Dayton.

The coroner’s office didn’t release details on the cause or manner of death.

Dayton police say they responded to a report of a shooting around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday near an apartment complex. The wounded teen died at a hospital a few hours later.

Police say they took a man into custody Wednesday for questioning.

Officers say they don’t know what led to the shooting or whether Banks was the intended target or was hit by gunfire meant for someone else.

No other details of the shooting were immediately released.
