COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) - Two people have been arrested on suspicion of being involved in a botched murder-for-hire in Colorado Springs.

Court records allege Anna Chamberlin paid Jake Ricker to kill her ex-boyfriend because she believed he owed her money for crashing her car.

Prosecutors say Ricker and another man forced their way into the ex-boyfriend’s apartment on Feb. 24. The ex-boyfriend told police he jumped from a balcony and called police.

Investigators say Ricker held the ex-boyfriend’s niece at gunpoint and said he’d been hired to kill her uncle.

The Gazette reports (bit.ly/2m3bqp2) Ricker was arrested while leaving the apartment and Chamberlin was arrested the next day. The other suspect is not in custody.

Chamberlin and Ricker are jailed. They are scheduled to make initial court appearances next Wednesday for attempted first-degree murder, aggravated robbery and conspiracy.
