LANCASTER, S.C. (AP) - Authorities say the owner of a Lancaster convenience store was found shot to death in his front yard.

The county coroner’s office says 43-year-old Harnish Patel of Lancaster died at the scene late Thursday.

Local media outlets report Patel was shot minutes after closing his Speedee Mart store. Investigators believe he drove directly home and was confronted by his killer when he got out of his minivan.

The person who called 911 told the operator she heard screaming and gunshots near White Oak Manor. Patel lived across the street from the long-term care facility.
