ASHLAND, Ohio (AP) - Undefeated and Division II champion Ashland is getting a shot at the gold standard of women’s college basketball - UConn.

The Eagles went 37-0 this season to capture their second Division II crown. They will face UConn in a preseason exhibition game Nov. 5 Ashland announced the matchup Thursday, presenting a “tale of the tape” between the programs on its website.

UConn is 36-0 and plays Mississippi State in the Final Four on Friday at Dallas. UConn has won 111 straight games and four straight Division I titles.



The past six seasons, Ashland has won two titles, finished second and gone 181-23 in D-II.

Ashland coach Robyn Fralick says UConn has “set the standard, not just in women’s basketball, but athletics in general.” Fralick calls this game an “unbelievable opportunity.”
