NEW YORK (AP) - Authorities in New York City are searching for a person involved in a hit-and-run that seriously injured a 13-year-old boy.

Police say the boy was struck on Staten Island around 6 p.m. Thursday. Investigators say the driver was being pulled over for a traffic stop when he sped away. Authorities say the driver then struck the 13-year-old as he was crossing the street.

Police say the man stopped the car after crashing into a utility pole and fled on foot.



The victim was taken to Richmond University Medical Center. Police say the boy is now in stable condition.

No arrests have been made. An investigation is ongoing.
