RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) - A South Dakota man has pleaded guilty to failing to help an abused boy, then concealing his death from authorities.
Forty-four-year-old Mitchell Wisecarver admitted in federal court Friday that he knew his wife, Lori Wisecarver, had been physically abusing 2-year-old Jayden Locke after they brought the child into their Pine Ridge home in 2014. The boy died months later.
An autopsy showed he died from “multiple blunt trauma injury,” including bleeding in the brain and intestines. He also had burn-like injuries and bruises.
The Rapid City Journal reports (https://bit.ly/2lr1wPp ) that Mitchell Wisecarver pleaded guilty to misprision of a felony. He faces up to three years in prison.
Forty-three-year-old Lori Wisecarver pleaded guilty last month to second-degree murder. She faces up to life in prison at her May sentencing.
