Phoenix police say the death of a man initially reported to have fallen from a hiking trail was an apparent suicide.

The incident occurred Saturday morning on Lookout Mountain, which is part of the city’s mountain preserve system.

Phoenix authorities say a man is dead after falling from a trail on Lookout Mountain, part of the city’s mountain preserve system.

Fire Capt. Jake Van Hook says fire crews and rescue teams found the man dead Saturday morning when they arrived in response to a call about a man falling from the trail on the mountain in north Phoenix.

Van Hook says police will investigate the death.

No additional information was immediately available.
