TAVARES, Fla. (AP) - Police say a 2-year-old child is recovering after being injured during a drive-by shooting in central Florida.

Tavares police spokeswoman Sarah Coursey says local news outlets the child was playing outside around 9 p.m. Tuesday when a car drove by and its occupants fired multiple shots.

She says the child was shot in the abdomen and is expected to make a full recovery.

Coursey says police don’t know the identities of the people in the car, which was described as a dark grey Chevrolet Malibu.
