FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (AP) - Flagstaff officials have taken the first step toward amending a voter-approved measure that raises the city’s minimum wage to $15 an hour.
The Daily Sun reports (https://bit.ly/2n6mKir) that the City Council voted 6-1 in favor of raising the wage by 50 cents to $10.50 in July. The law passed by voters in November calls for the wage to jump to $12 by July before increasing to $15 by 2021.
The council will hold a final vote on the amendment on March 21.

The proposal to modify the city’s minimum wage law comes after the council decided last month against holding a special election in May on an initiative to repeal the minimum wage increase. The council voted to wait for the next general election in November 2018.
