WINTER HAVEN, Fla. (AP) - Authorities say an apparently suicidal man is dead after fleeing deputies and crashing his truck into other vehicles.
A Polk County Sheriff’s Office news release says the man was pronounced dead Wednesday after being airlifted to a Lakeland hospital.
Deputies say they responded to reports of a suicidal person in Winter Haven Wednesday morning, and the man fled in his truck. During a pursuit, authorities say the man intentionally slammed into two other vehicles. At least one person from one of those other vehicles was hospitalized.
A deputy attempted to stop the truck with a patrol vehicle. The truck left the road and began to roll, ejecting the driver.
Police haven’t named the man in the truck.
