PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) - A 15-year-old boy suspected of fatally shooting a woman and wounding a man at an Oregon home will be booked into Juvenile Hall after he’s released from a hospital, police said Thursday.
Police have not said why he needs medical care, citing privacy laws.
“It doesn’t have anything to do directly with the incident itself,” McMinnville police Capt. Tim Symons said.
Symons said the case will be turned over to the Yamhill County Juvenile Department and the district attorney’s office for possible charges.
Symons said officers responding to an emergency call Wednesday found 43-year-old Kimberly Lynn Forness dead inside a home.
A man identified as Ron Spiker, 50, was found outside the home, suffering from at least one gunshot wound. He was taken to a hospital.
The boy and his father were living in the same home as Forness and Spiker, Symons said. The teenager is not related to the victims. His name was not released because of his age.
Symons said investigators are still piecing together what happened and are not ready to divulge what may have led to the double shooting.
Officers recovered the handgun believed to have been used. Symons said it belonged to someone other than the teenager who lived in the house.
McMinnville is in Oregon’s wine country, about 40 miles southwest of Portland.
