FRAMINGHAM, Mass. (AP) - A Framingham man has been ordered held without bail in connection with the beating of his pregnant wife.

The MetroWest Daily News reports (https://bit.ly/2mKzBtH ) that 27-year-old Christian Horne was charged with assault and battery on a pregnant person, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and threatening to commit a crime.

Police say Horne’s wife returned home to the couple’s apartment on Tuesday night and found that the place was ransacked. After the woman’s father left, police say Horne came out of hiding and beat her with a cane.

Prosecutors say the victim suffered bruises all over her body and a puncture wound to her arm. It’s unclear if the woman’s pregnancy was affected.

The suspect’s attorney said at Wednesday’s arraignment that his client was the victim.
