NEWTON, Iowa (AP) - Authorities are investigating the death of a Jasper County man as a homicide.

Deputies sent to a Newton residence Monday to check reports of an unresponsive man found the body of 61-year-old Jose Ramirez Berber. After an autopsy, officials ruled the death a homicide Wednesday. The cause of death has not yet been released.

The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation is helping local authorities. No arrests have been reported.
