AMSTERDAM, N.Y. (AP) - Police in upstate New York are investigating after an unidentified man in his 20s was found fatally shot just beyond the front door of a home in Amsterdam.
Officers were dispatched to the Mohawk Valley residence around 3 a.m. Thursday following reports of the shooting.
The victim was discovered on the first floor of the home suffering from a gunshot wound. Another person at the house unsuccessfully attempted to administer CPR to the victim.
Lt. Tom Nethaway says he does not believe this was a random attack and the public is not in any danger.
Amsterdam detectives have been going door to door conducting interviews and searching the area for clues.
No arrests have been made. It’s unclear if police have any suspects in the killing.
