LAKE CHARLES, La. (AP) - Lake Charles voters have chosen the city’s first new mayor in 17 years.

KPLC-TV reports (https://bit.ly/2oOWDRC ) that Nic Hunter defeated Wilford Carter in a runoff Saturday night.

Hunter received about 56 percent of the vote to Carter’s 44 percent.

Hunter is the 29th mayor of Lake Charles. He replaces Mayor Randy Roach, who was first elected in 2000, but decided not to run again.
