OGDEN, Utah (AP) - The parents of a baby who died at a daycare in 2014 are recalling their 8-month-old boy being a content little boy.

Alesha and Christopher Penland’s tearful remarks came Monday during the first day of a trial for home daycare provider charged with child abuse homicide in the death of 8-month-old Lincoln Penland. Authorities say he died from skull fractures.

The Standard-Examiner reports (https://bit.ly/2oZngys) that an attorney for 36-year-old Tisha Morley says his client didn’t commit the crime in Roy, Utah. Jason Widdison says interviews done with other children show they didn’t see what Morley is accused of doing.

Weber County prosecutor Letitia Toombs countered that the death was no accident. Toombs says a medical expert will testify during the two-week trial about what could have happened to lead to the death.
