SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - West Valley City police have arrested a Utah teacher accused of bringing homemade, scrapbook-style albums of child pornography to the school where he worked.
Investigators say surveillance video at American Preparatory Academy appears to show Michael Scott Hatfield removing a bag from his desk and covering up security cameras in his classroom at a time when no children were in the room.
Police believe 58-year-old Hatfield was masturbating. Investigators later retrieved the bag and found two albums containing images of adult and child pornography, accompanied by captions and stickers, along with a pornographic DVD.
Hatfield is being jailed on suspicion of several pornography-related charges. He has not yet been charged and does not have a listed attorney.
School officials say they have fired Hatfield and are deeply concerned.
