BREWTON, Ala. (AP) - A south Alabama man is charged with murder in the death of a woman who was killed during a hunting outing.

Al.com (https://bit.ly/2r1yXap ) reports 31-year-old Shannon Bell of Flomaton has been indicted on a murder charge in the death Donna L. Martin.

Martin suffered a fatal gunshot in Escambia County on Dec. 2.

A court document says Bell was removing a gun from his vehicle when it went off, striking Martin in the side. Bell claimed he was trying to shoot a deer at night when he and Martin struggled over the gun.

Bell initially was charged with manslaughter and hunting at night. Grand jurors indicted him Monday on the more serious charge.

Bell is being held in the Escambia County jail with bail set at $150,000.
