BELVIDERE, N.J. (AP) - A man has admitted he gunned down the mother of his daughter in her Warren County home in 2013.

Salim Newton pleaded guilty to aggravated manslaughter and possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose. Under terms of a plea agreement, prosecutors will recommend the 30-year-old serve 85 percent of a 24-year prison sentence.

Prosecutors say Newton shot and killed 22-year-old Melissa Williams in her Phillipsburg home in 2013. He was arrested about a month later in Virginia.
