NEW YORK (AP) - A New York City man has been found guilty of killing a Bangladeshi immigrant who died two years after being beaten while trying to quell a bar fight.
The Queens District Attorney’s Office says 32-year-old David Louime, of Queens, was convicted Tuesday of second-degree murder after a 10-day jury trial.
Authorities say 51-year-old Isteak Quadir was at the Hillside Inn on Sept. 13, 2012 when he stepped in to keep two men from fighting. Officials say one of the men punched Quadir in the face, knocking him to the floor.
Louime then repeatedly punched and kicked Quadir in the head. The beating left the victim in a semi-comatose state. He died from his injuries in May 2014.
Louime faces 25 years to life in prison when he’s sentenced June 14.
