PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) - A federal judge has sentenced an Oregon drug trafficker to 17 years in federal prison.

The Statesman Journal reports (https://is.gd/YAj9J9 ) 43-year-old Alfredo Pena-Lopez of Salem pleaded guilty this week to conspiracy to distribute 50 grams or more of methamphetamine.

During his time leading a drug trafficking operation, Pena-Lopez would smuggle 5 to 10 pounds of methamphetamine into Oregon at a time and sell the drug by the pound.

Court-authorized wiretaps and surveillance revealed that Pena-Lopez stashed his methamphetamine in a U-Haul and parked it at a car-repair business in Salem.

The undocumented immigrant will be deported after his release.
