OCEAN SPRINGS, Miss. (AP) - A woman walking in a pedestrian lane on Biloxi Bay Bridge was hit by a car as she returned to the Ocean Springs side.

Markelia Roberson says it’s a miracle that she’s still alive.

Police say the 20-year-old from Moss Point was hit by a car driven by a 30-year-old woman from Pensacola, Florida, who fled the scene. The Sun Herald reports (https://bit.ly/2qOWOwE) Yo’Shikia Tawanna Allen was arrested on charges of felony DUI and leaving the scene of an accident causing injuries.

Police investigator Terry Hines says the accident happened about 8:23 p.m. Sunday after witnesses reported seeing a woman driving east on the walking path on the Biloxi side of the bridge. Hines says the walkway is wide enough for a vehicle but is not open to private vehicles.
