LOWELL, Mass. (AP) - Lowell police are investigating after a 14-year-old boy was shot in the head.

Officers responded to Mead Street at about 3:45 p.m. Tuesday where they found the victim with what they called a non-life threatening gunshot wound to the head. He was conscious, alert and talking.

He was treated at the scene before being taken by ambulance to Tufts Medical Center in Boston.

The victim’s name was not made public.

Police say the shooting remains under investigation but added that “there is no evidence the shot came from outside the residence as first reported.”
