TUPPER LAKE, N.Y. (AP) - Authorities say the deaths of two people whose bodies were found at a home in a village in the Adirondack Mountains appear to be a murder-suicide.
State police say they were contacted early Wednesday morning about bodies outside a home in the Franklin County village of Tupper Lake, 115 miles (185 kilometers) northwest of Albany.
Troopers say it’s believed that the man, 47-year-old Stacey Ayotte, shot the woman, 34-year-old Jamie Martin, and then himself in Martin’s front yard. Police say a rifle was found near Ayotte’s body.
The home is on a dirt road off Hosley Avenue. Police say two children the couple had in common were found in good health at another location in the village.
Troopers say the couple had been in a long-term relationship but weren’t living together.
