Man’s body found in woods near South Carolina coast

AYNOR, S.C. (AP) - Police are trying to identify a man whose body was found in some woods near the South Carolina coast.

Horry County police told local media outlets that the identification of a missing man was found near the remains in woods near Aynor (AY-Nor).

Police spokeswoman Krystal Dotson says officers began searching the woods Wednesday morning for Randy Davis, who was reported missing in January 2016.

Dotson says Davis’ identification was found near the remains. The body has been sent to the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston to confirm the identity.

Deputy Coroner Darris Fowler hoped to have the name by Thursday evening.
