BALTIMORE (AP) - Authorities say a Baltimore police officer was knocked unconscious when he fell during a foot chase.

Police said in a statement that the officer was conducting narcotics surveillance on Wednesday night when he tried to stop a suspected dealer, who ran off.

The officer chased the suspect, but police say the officer fell and struck his head, rendering him unconscious.

Police say the officer was taken to Shock Trauma, where he is in serious, but stable condition.
