BECKLEY, W.Va. (AP) - A Raleigh County man has been sentenced to five years in prison after he was found guilty of conspiring to tamper with a witness.

U.S. Attorney Carol A. Casto’s office said 60-year-old Mark Radcliffe of Shady Spring was sentenced Wednesday and also fined $25,000.

Witnesses testified that Radcliffe directed actions to influence a case in which his son, Seth Radcliffe, was facing kidnapping charges.

A co-defendant, Jimmie Harper, testified in the case. Harper was sentenced in August to seven years in prison for an unrelated arson crime and two years in the witness tampering case to be served consecutively.

Mark Radcliffe was convicted in October after a three-day jury trial.
