OLYMPIA, Wash (AP) - A campaign finance complaint has been filed by the attorney general’s office against the King County Democratic Central Committee.

The complaint was filed Friday in Thurston County Superior Court. It alleges the group was late in reporting a total of $65,442 in expenditures and $74,261 in contributions throughout 2016.

After receiving a complaint in March, an initial review by attorney general staff found that numerous reports were filed late, some up to eight months.

Other findings include:

-The committee was late in reporting contributions from seven political committees totaling $30,000.

-The committee was late in reporting contributions to five candidates in the weeks leading up to the November election totaling $30,500.

The attorney general’s office says the committee did not start filing updated reports until Nov. 21, after the state Public Disclosure Commission began investigating. The group has 20 days to respond to the state’s complaint.
