CONWAY, Ark. (AP) - An Arkansas woman has been arrested after police say she stabbed her 38-year-old son to death.
The Conway Police Department says 55-year-old Jessie Mae Johnson was arrested Saturday morning in the fatal stabbing of Christopher Helms.
Johnson was being held in the Faulkner County Detention Center on a charge of first-degree murder. It was not immediately clear if Johnson is represented by an attorney.
Authorities say the stabbing occurred at a residence where witnesses say they saw Helms curse his mother. Witnesses say they then saw Johnson stab her son with a kitchen knife.
Police say Johnson was holding her son and she and Helms’ sister were administering CPR in an attempt to revive him when police arrived at the residence.
Authorities say Helms later died from his stab wound.
