PLAINFIELD, N.J. (AP) - A man accused of fatally shooting another man during a dispute over a dice game has been convicted of murder and weapons charges.
Union County prosecutors say Johnathan Sylvester was convicted Friday after a six-week trial. The Plainfield man now faces a possible life term when he’s sentenced June 23.
Sylvester was accused of killing 24-year-old Rashawn Bryant in August 2014.
Prosecutors say the men had been rolling dice with friends in front of a Plainfield home when an argument ensued. They say Sylvester went home, returned with a handgun and shot Bryant, who died at a hospital the next day.
Authorities have not said what the men argued about.
