WASHINGTON (AP) - Authorities say a man has been sentenced to more than five years in prison for a series of bank robberies last year in the District of Columbia.
Officials say 47-year-old Tyrone Edward Wright of D.C. was found guilty in February of three bank robberies in a 24-hour period in April 2016. He was sentenced Friday to 64 months in prison.
Prosecutors say Wright got a total of $6,577 in the three robberies. They say he was caught minutes away from his last robbery with cash stuffed in his shoes and pocket.
Prosecutors say the robberies happened within blocks of one another in DC’s NOMA neighborhood.
Wright was also ordered to pay $6,577 in restitution to the banks.
