CUMBERLAND, R.I. (AP) - Police in Rhode Island are searching for a person who broke into a house and assaulted the homeowner.

Cumberland Deputy Police Chief Douglas Ciullo says the suspect entered the home on Friday morning. The homeowner, a man in his 50s, was assaulted and suffered minor injuries.

Ciullo says a nearby middle school was temporarily locked down because police had K9s working in the area.

No arrests have been made in the case.
