OAHU, Hawaii (AP) - New data shows of the number of homeless people and homeless veterans in a Hawaii city has increased.
The Honolulu Star-Advertiser reports (https://bit.ly/2pyVwpS ) data released last week shows that Oahu’s homeless population increased by 0.4 percent, bring the new total to 4,940 people. The homeless veteran population grew by 9 percent for a new total of 449.
Other neighboring Hawaii cities saw a simultaneous 35 percent decrease in homeless veterans.
The city has scheduled a two-day training event in June for social services outreach workers that will focus on lowering homeless veteran numbers.
