NEW HARTFORD, N.Y. (AP) - Police say an 8-year-old boy has died after he was hit by a truck in the parking lot of a central New York shopping plaza.
Police in the Oneida County town of New Hartford say the accident occurred around 2 p.m. Sunday outside the Target store at Sangertown Square, near Utica.
Officers say the truck was backing out of a parking spot when it hit the boy. Police say he suffered severe injuries and was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead soon after arrival.
Police haven’t released the boy’s name.
The driver hasn’t been ticketed.
Police say more information will be released Monday.
