OCEAN CITY, N.J. (AP) - A housing authority leader in New Jersey has been terminated following her guilty plea on charges of embezzling federal funds.

Alesia Watson, the now-former executive director of the Ocean City Housing Authority, was terminated by a unanimous vote by the board of the Ocean City Housing Authority.

The Press of Atlantic City reports (https://bit.ly/2rpd3Nr ) Watson was accused of using two housing authority credit cards to buy 69 gift cards for personal use. She had signed a plea agreement in January, but had never informed her employers of the federal investigation. She had not been to work since May 8 when she pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court in Camden.

Watson faces up to a year in prison and a $100,000 fine when she is sentenced in August.
