HOLYOKE, Mass. (AP) - Police say an armed man who barricaded himself into a Holyoke apartment has been taken into custody.

The suspect, whose name has not been released, was arrested early Wednesday after a standoff with police that lasted several hours. No injuries were reported.

Police Lt. David Usher says the incident began after another man reported that he had been in an argument with the suspect, who had threatened to get a gun.

Officers responding to the scene chased the suspect on foot before learning he had barricaded himself into another apartment in the city. A negotiator and state police tactical unit arrived and authorities say the man was arrested at about 4:40 a.m.

The suspect faces firearms charges.
