Body found in St. Helena Parish is that of missing woman

GREENSBURG, La. (AP) - A body found in a shallow grave in St. Helena Parish has been identified as that of a woman reported missing last week.

The Sheriff’s Office says 35-year-old Rebecca A. Blades’ body was found Sunday behind some houses near her home. Her father had reported her missing May 10, two weeks after he had last seen at her home.

Chief of Detectives Joe Chaney tells The Advocate (https://bit.ly/2qySLUK ) that Blades’ death will be investigated as a murder based on preliminary information from an autopsy.

Chaney says a person of interest has been identified in the case, but he wouldn’t provide further details.

Anyone with information about Blades’ death is asked to contact the sheriff’s office.
