SILVER CITY, N.M. (AP) - A math teacher who is head volleyball coach at Silver City High School has been arrested and accused of having a sex with a student.

The New Mexico State Police said Tiana Sanchez was arrested Thursday following an investigation that began May 12 when the student’s mother provided the student’s phone to authorities.

According to the State Police, the phone contained text and photographs with sexual content.

Sanchez was arrested and jailed on suspicion of criminal sexual penetration of a child.

Online court records don’t list an attorney who could comment on behalf of Sanchez regarding the allegations.
