SAUGERTIES, N.Y. (AP) - Authorities say nearly three dozen New Jersey teenagers who held their after-prom party about 100 miles from their hometown were busted for underage drinking.

Police in New York’s Hudson Valley say they were contacted Friday night about loud music coming from a home in the town of Saugerties (SAW’-ger-teez), 95 miles north of New York City.

Saugerties police tell the Daily Freeman of Kingston (https://bit.ly/2oU19yn ) that officers found three kegs of beer, more than 50 bottles of hard liquor and dozens of students from Wallington High School in northern New Jersey.

Police say the school’s prom was held Thursday night in New Jersey. Officials say they charged 34 teenagers with underage drinking. New York’s drinking age is 21.

Police say they’re trying to contact the New Jersey man who rented the home to the teens.
