GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) - Authorities say they aren’t sure who shot whom in a fatal gunfight in Arizona involving a police officer and four men.

Glendale Police Detective Mark Coyle said the Friday shooting is still under investigation.

The chaotic scene erupted as the officer encountered the men fighting in the Phoenix suburb.

Police said the officer fired shots in response to one of the men who pulled out a gun and shot in the direction of the officer and the other men.

The suspect who opened fire then fled in a silver vehicle but was later found fatally wounded by gunfire.

Another man in the group was also shot and was hospitalized in critical condition.

Coyle said it’s unclear who shot whom but that the officer is on paid leave, pending the investigation.
