New Hampshire motorcycle thefts fell sharply last year

CONCORD, N.H. (AP) - National data shows New Hampshire’s motorcycle thefts fell sharply last year.

The National Insurance Crime Bureau says New Hampshire motorcycle thefts fell by one-third in 2016, giving it the fourth-lowest rate even though the state has the second-highest ranking for motorcycle ownership.

The Concord Monitor reports (https://bit.ly/2rFV1Yy) that only South Dakota, Wyoming, Maine and Vermont had a lower number than the 68 motorcycles reported stolen in New Hampshire.

The newspaper said it’s not clear why those states have so few motorcycle thefts, but all of them are rural states. Nationally, the number of thefts increased slightly, by about 2 percent.
