ELON, N.C. (AP) - A Connecticut family is giving a university in North Carolina $5 million to expand its library.

Elon University said in a news release that Robert and Dilek Koenigsberger of Greenwich, Connecticut, are giving the school the money. Their daughter Amber received her bachelor’s degree from Elon on Saturday.

The Koenigsberger Learning Center will be a two-story addition to the Belk Library and is expected to open in fall 2018. It will be the new home of the university’s academic advising and tutoring offices.

Half of the money will go for construction. The other half will be used for operating expenses.
