MINOT, N.D. (AP) - Funeral services are scheduled Wednesday for former state lawmaker and North Dakota Supreme Court Justice Herbert Meschke.

Meschke died Friday at his home near Minot, at age 89. His funeral is at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Vincent United Methodist Church in Minot.

Meschke served in the state House and Senate in the 1960s. He was appointed to the state Supreme Court in 1985 by Gov. George Sinner and served until retiring in 1999.

Meschke graduated from Belfield High School, and earned a degree in economics from Jamestown College in 1950. He went on to study law at the University of Michigan, graduating with distinction in 1953.
