STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) - Authorities have released the name of a man who was found dead after he jumped into a river while running from police in northern Colorado.

Steamboat Today reports https://goo.gl/GKpVuc 22-year-old Arman Qureshi’s body was found submerged in the Yampa River on Monday following an extensive search.

Steamboat Springs police say he ran from officers Sunday and jumped into the river to escape them. He also wrestled himself away from an officer who tried to pull him out of the water.

Qureshi was suspected of trying to steal a purse downtown. He had recently moved to Steamboat Springs to work in the information technology industry.
