MIAMI (AP) - A Miami police officer shot a man accused of stabbing his ex-wife and crashing into a patrol car.
The Miami Herald (https://goo.gl/tdfZ4t ) reports that the stabbing occurred Monday night, and the shooting occurred early Tuesday morning.
Police say officers responded to a residential area, where they found 36-year-old Zuarmis Rubio Gonzalez suffering from multiple stab wounds. She was taken to a nearby trauma center in critical condition but managed to identify 35-year-old Manuel Alvarez as her attacker.
Officers began searching the area, but police say Alvarez returned a short time later and rear-ended a patrol. Authorities say Alvarez got out of his vehicle and lunged at an officer with a knife. The officer fired twice, hitting Alvarez in the shoulder.
Alvarez was hospitalized in stable condition. Police say charges are pending.
