PUEBLO, Colo. (AP) - A woman has been arrested after allegedly leaving an 11-month-old girl unattended in a bathtub and then finding the child facedown in water.

The Pueblo Chieftain reports (https://bit.ly/2qp1jKd ) Amanda Miller was arrested on a warrant Tuesday for child abuse resulting in death.

According to the arrest affidavit, an autopsy determined the infant died of asphyxiation by drowning May 14, six days after the incident.

Miller tells police she is a family friend who was baby-sitting the 11-month-old girl and the child’s 3-year-old sister. Miller says she poured a “lukewarm” bath for the girls with approximately 6 inches of water.

According to the affidavit, Miller says she went to another room to vacuum for “about six to seven minutes” and when she returned to the bathroom, the 11-month-old child was “facedown in the water.”
